Dear Countryside Families,
Welcome back—we hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Recess! It’s hard to believe, but we’re now entering the final two months of the school year—time is flying by! As we look ahead to May, we have a lot of wonderful community events to look forward to (e.g., the Countryside Online Auction, Teacher Appreciation Week, and Countryside Family Math Game Night).
We’ll kick things off with a casual PTO Coffee this Friday, May 1 at 8:20 a.m. (in the library). Please stop by to meet members of our current PTO Board and learn more about opportunities to get involved— whether by serving in a board role or by helping lead or support one of our many PTO events. If nothing else, stop by and grab a coffee for a morning caffeine boost. We hope to see you there!
Warmly,
Steve, Tera, and Melissa

The Countryside Online Auction is live with over 275 items and new items still being added!! Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, our Countryside families can get great deals on awesome items, while supporting our school at the same time—what a win! By participating in the auction, you make it possible for us to continue to build on PTO sponsored events such as Countryside Cares, Spring Fest, and more that benefit our entire community.
Items include: Bar' Cino, 3 month YMCA membership, ICA Boston passes, Foxwoods overnight stay, 1 week of unlimited yoga at Down Under, car detailing by Shine Dr. and many, many more from local businesses!
As we prepare for the new school year, our PTO is entering a period of transition—some board members are finishing their terms and others are moving on as their kids graduate. We’re looking for new members to help keep our community strong!
Getting involved is a meaningful way to give back to our school and help create a fun and rewarding experience for all our children—including your own. There’s a role for everyone—whether you have a little time or a lot. No experience is needed, and we’ll support you every step of the way.
For the 2026–27 school year, we are seeking volunteers for both Board of Directors and Event Chair roles. No prior experience is needed for any position and there are roles for all levels of commitment! We are sharing two signup genius lists: one for Board of Directors positions (click HERE) and one with a select list of Event Chair positions that we need to fill in advance of the school year (click HERE).
Click HERE for a detailed description of all Board of Directors and event chair position roles.
For the Board-specific positions, the new Board will be voted in at the PTO meeting on May 13. Please note that to avoid a "first come, first served" bias in the signup, there are multiple slots for each role. You MUST indicate your interest in the signup genius prior to the meeting in order to be eligible for the vote. If there are multiple people signed up for a slot, each candidate will have a chance to speak about what attracted them to that position.
Thank you to everyone who donated items for our Dip Day Staff Appreciation Event! The staff truly enjoyed the delicious food and felt so supported by our wonderful school community. Thank you to Tera Hickle, Beth Harmon, and Jeff Spontak for helping set up and clean up the event—your time and effort made it all possible! A special thank you for Maegan Spontak for organizing this event!
We’re looking for community groups and teams ready to bring music, movement, color, and fun to the streets in Newton. Participants will meet at 2:15 p.m., at Newton City Hall for the 3:00 p.m., kickoff, and finish at Coletti-Magni Park by 5:00 p.m. Email Cluc@newtonma.gov with your ideas and to learn how your group can join the parade lineup!
